The Machete a great place to eat in Cozumel

(C) Ashaunte 2015

I was in Cozumel, Mexico last week and came upon this unassuming eatery as I walked through the streets of Cozumel. There is no shortage of  places to eat in Cozumel. I hung around the cruise ship port area, shopping and taking in the sights. Restaurants along the way were actively greeting tourists, menu in hand with attempts to lure you into their restaurants. However, on one side street we noticed the sign "The Machete" and was somehow drawn to it. There were weathered wooden table and chairs on the sidewalk and no one was brandishing menus and enticing you to enter. We approached the doorway and as we were scanning the posted menus, a group just leaving told us that the food was very good. That was all we needed. Soon we were offered a table by the very casual and amiable waiter. I ordered a vegetable fajitas and my partner the chicken fajitas.

I had expected the usual run of the mill fare that we get back home but was pleasantly surprised when the hot sizzling fillings were brought to our table along with a stack of  tender war wraps. It was perfect. and thoroughly enjoyable. The grilled vegetables were fresh, tender and delicious with the right amount of spice. The toppings were just as fresh and delicious and the guacamole was made right at your table. The serving staff was friendly, prompt and thorough. So if you should visit Cozumel, be sure to stop by The Machete for a filling and enjoyable fare at a good price.

The Cattail Cafe at the Seven Clans Casino, Warroad MN - A Review

Cattail café Seven Clans Casino, Warroad, review - image Google The Cattail café is conveniently located next to the casino and across from the gift shop. Here you can grab breakfast, lunch or dinner on the go in an informal, pedestrian type setting. The food The menu at the Cattail has your usual burgers, fish and chips and chicken dinners. There is a marked absence of vegetables and coleslaw seems to be the closest thing to green you will see. Don't expect any special treatment if you are vegan or gluten free . You don't always get what is on the menu as it seems they are not always able to prepare what you ask for and bluntly tell you they can't get you what's on the menu without giving a reason. I ate there once and had the fish and chips which was okay. Service at the Cattail Service was mixed when I visited. The serving staff behind the counter were pleasant enough but not very accommodating. I asked if they had veggie burgers and the guy looked at...

RV Trip to St Malo Provincial Park, Manitoba

St Malo Provincial Park ©Ashauntae(2020) St Malo Beach Having just acquired our first motorhome , it was time to start planning trips to campgrounds. We would start  in Manitoba and work our way across Canada and eventually to the United States. To our surprise available campgrounds were in short supply. It seems like due to COVID-19 and stay at home orders, campgrounds had become a high demand commodity. ©Ashauntae(2020) Tiffen Allegro Motorhome With perservance we managed to find three nights in the St Malo Provincial park in mid July. The highlight of St Malo is it's family friendly twin beaches.  One of the beaches called sunset beach is the ideal location to watch the sunset. St Malo beach is also great for swimming in this motor-free waters here which also makes it a great location for canoeing, kayaking and sailboarding. ©Ashauntae(2020) Sunset Beach St Malo ©Ashauntae(2020) Sunset at St Malo Other attractions included a mini golf, several hiking trails with easy acc...

A visit to the Pirate Museum in Nassau Bahamas

pirate museum, Nassau, Bahamas, image Ashauntae Located in the heart of downtown Nassau is the Pirate Museum and a must see for tourists who want a glimpse into the history of piracy especially as it relates to the Caribbean.  Inside the museum you will find a true replica pirate ship which hosts most of the exhibits on two floors. Enter if you dare. It can be like entering a haunted house with sights and sounds of an era past on a pirate ship. The first room on the ship belongs to the ship's carpenter who had the most important job on the ship. The ship holds many historical facts about famous pirates, their conquests and their demise. There are replica jails, re-enactment image  of a gruesome surgery at sea, and other pirate artifacts. On the outside of the museum you can take your photo locked in the stocks. All in all it was a very informative experience.
