It is the start of the the 4th leg of our walking the Headingly Grand Trunk Trail. We drove to Headingly and parked on Harris Rd. It was warm but overcast day which made for a pleasant walk. There was some construction in progress that involved placing fresh gravel on the trunk trail for the first part of our walk. However, apart from keeping an eye out for the construction equipment and moving over when necessary, our walk was not hindered much.

The seemingly endless stretch of farmers' fields that flank both sides of the Grand Trunk Trail have now been harvested and all that is left is the gorgeous expanses of after-harvest orange glow. But it was not all farmer's fields as we walked by some gorgeous freshly minted homes.

This portion of the Headingly Grand Trunk Trail is part of the Forest Enhancement program. This project helps forests become more diverse and productive, The program also funds tree plantin projects which are very much needed in the area.

Along the trail, grasshoppers, were plentiful and there was an abundance of wild flowers and birds. There were a few hilly areas on the side of the trail that were ideal for mountain biking. This is a peaceful, open trail, with very little bike and foot traffic.

This 4 km hike (2km each way) ended on our return to Harris Rd.  On our way back the sun came out and it was a gorgeous walk back. There are few scttered benches along the way for weary bodies to rest but many more are needed.

Natural wonders of the Bahamas – The Boiling Hole

Boiling Hole, Bahamas, Image credit Bahamas.com Google advanced images The Bahamas will leave you dumbstruck by the site of their natural wonders one of which is The Boiling Hole. Tidal conditions in the clear lake called the Boiling hole, created burps and bubbles. As the tide flows out to the sea, the water coming out of the cave causes bubbles on the surface.   When the tide flows inward, a whirlpool is created by the water rushing into the cave system. There is a boardwalk for viewing and a ladder to get closer to this wonder.   You may also get a glimpse of spy rays, baby sharks and the many birds nesting in the mangroves. The Boiling Hole is in Hepburn Town, Eight Mile Rock Grand Bahama Island.
