Kingston, Jamaica - The Un-Holiday

If you are dreaming of sand, sun and water and Jamaica is your destination, you will be well warned to avoid the city of Kingston even though not entirely. You wouldn't find beaches and resort style adventures in the capital city of Kingston but yet there are some interesting sights and sounds. Below are a few of the highlights you can experience in Kingston, Jamaica:

On the less relaxing side, you must deal with the hustle and bustle of city life. Remember, that while you may be vacationing, everyone else has to continue the rat race of life. Many of the shops and city life you will find in the Constant Springs road area. Walking the streets downtown can be similar to making your way through a corn maze only this maze consists of uneven and non-existent sidewalks cluttered with pedestrians, vendors and their wares. The phrase "taking a walk on the wild side" is consistently on your mind.

While you won't see the see, you do get some good views of the mountains with homes atop, and the trip to the airport takes you along the port cities where you see breathtaking and uncluttered views of the water.

Natural wonders of the Bahamas – The Boiling Hole

Boiling Hole, Bahamas, Image credit Bahamas.com Google advanced images The Bahamas will leave you dumbstruck by the site of their natural wonders one of which is The Boiling Hole. Tidal conditions in the clear lake called the Boiling hole, created burps and bubbles. As the tide flows out to the sea, the water coming out of the cave causes bubbles on the surface.   When the tide flows inward, a whirlpool is created by the water rushing into the cave system. There is a boardwalk for viewing and a ladder to get closer to this wonder.   You may also get a glimpse of spy rays, baby sharks and the many birds nesting in the mangroves. The Boiling Hole is in Hepburn Town, Eight Mile Rock Grand Bahama Island.

A visit to the Pirate Museum in Nassau Bahamas

pirate museum, Nassau, Bahamas, image Ashauntae Located in the heart of downtown Nassau is the Pirate Museum and a must see for tourists who want a glimpse into the history of piracy especially as it relates to the Caribbean.  Inside the museum you will find a true replica pirate ship which hosts most of the exhibits on two floors. Enter if you dare. It can be like entering a haunted house with sights and sounds of an era past on a pirate ship. The first room on the ship belongs to the ship's carpenter who had the most important job on the ship. The ship holds many historical facts about famous pirates, their conquests and their demise. There are replica jails, re-enactment image  of a gruesome surgery at sea, and other pirate artifacts. On the outside of the museum you can take your photo locked in the stocks. All in all it was a very informative experience.
