Eating Vegan in Vegas

The Fashion Show Mall Image by Ashauntae

Unless you can afford to stay at the upscale Wynn hotel on the Las Vegas strip and eat pricey vegan food then you will have a tough time in Las Vegas if you are a vegan. I mention the Wynn because the owner is vegan and they carry, from my understanding, a very good vegan menu.; But since this is the penny pincher bloog, I have to look at a less expensive way of eating while in Vegas.

The Chin Chin resturant at the New York New York where we stayed can substitute most of their meat dishes with a vegan menu, you just have to ask. However, no one wants to eat off the same menu daily and so the search was on for other vegan friendly places to eat. Also at the New York New York is a Burger joint which makes a mean vegan burger with beans and other vegetables. It is quite a hefty burger and I was unable to finish it along with the herb and garlic fries I ordered.

The best vegan option I found was at the Fashion Show Mall on the Las Vegas Strip. We found this great little cafe tucked away under the escalator. It is the Red Velvet Cafe and in addition to having a full vegan alternative menu, my partner was also able to get his meat dishes. I tried the Mini pizza loaded with vegan cheese just like I make at home and couldn't resist the delicious super sized vegan chocolate cupcakes.

In addition to vegan and meat dishes they had a great selection of organic meals. There was a refreshing  selection of fresh fruit juices and the organic wheat beer was wonderful. My only regret is that they were so far away from my hotel and that I couldn't eat there every day.

RV Trip to St Malo Provincial Park, Manitoba

St Malo Provincial Park ©Ashauntae(2020) St Malo Beach Having just acquired our first motorhome , it was time to start planning trips to campgrounds. We would start  in Manitoba and work our way across Canada and eventually to the United States. To our surprise available campgrounds were in short supply. It seems like due to COVID-19 and stay at home orders, campgrounds had become a high demand commodity. ©Ashauntae(2020) Tiffen Allegro Motorhome With perservance we managed to find three nights in the St Malo Provincial park in mid July. The highlight of St Malo is it's family friendly twin beaches.  One of the beaches called sunset beach is the ideal location to watch the sunset. St Malo beach is also great for swimming in this motor-free waters here which also makes it a great location for canoeing, kayaking and sailboarding. ©Ashauntae(2020) Sunset Beach St Malo ©Ashauntae(2020) Sunset at St Malo Other attractions included a mini golf, several hiking trails with easy acc...

Enter if you dare. It can be like entering a haunted house with sights and sounds of an era past on a pirate ship. The first room on the ship belongs to the ship's carpenter who had the most important job on the ship. The ship holds many historical facts about famous pirates, their conquests and their demise. There are replica jails, re-enactment image  of a gruesome surgery at sea, and other pirate artifacts. On the outside of the museum you can take your photo locked in the stocks.
